With temperatures plunging far below freezing, Prabal Gurung’s Himalayan and Adirondacks inspired autumn/winter collection couldn’t have come at a better time. The robust collection proved a successful evolution from previous missteps in the native Nepalesean’s exploration for identity, infusing concepts of minimalism into traditionally busy wear – some even suggesting an homage to Calvin Klein.

Standouts in our eyes included his hand-knited Nepalese cashmere sweaters (cut a hem longer from last season), embroidered tank dresses and long-sleeve gowns deviating just a hint from his usual skintight cuts – and note the slips(!). On a personal level, it was great to see many friends from the retail giants, Linda Fargo (Bergdorf Goodman), Ken Downing (Neiman Marcus), Mark Lee and Daniella Vitale (Barney’s), sitting in support of Prabal and his blossoming line, making him one to watch in the coming seasons.
